What we do

Dirt Work Services From Raw Land to the Finished Building

Most of our work is heavy equipment dirt work. That means land clearing, site preparation, land grading, road building, utility trenching and site drainage. Oilfield construction and data center site work put those same machines to work for operators and campus builders. Concrete work, commercial tenant finish outs, commercial new construction, fire and water damage repair, low voltage and AV wiring and custom home construction cover the building that follows the dirt.

Commercial Tenant Finish Out

Retail and Commercial Finish Outs, Managed as One Job

Dirt work is one side of the company. The other is the commercial tenant finish out work: a leased shell or a vacated space taken through roofing, air conditioning, polished concrete floors, drywall, doors, cabinets and countertops, with one schedule and one written quote. Ground-up commercial new construction runs under the same company, shell buildings, offices, warehouses and additions, and so does the low voltage and AV wiring work, from Ethernet and server racks to the show lighting in an experience venue.

The work has included an Ollie's store, the Hobby Lobby shell in the same shopping center, the Glow or Go and SENSAS venues in the Dallas Design District, and a burned-out commercial building brought back through our fire and water damage repair work. Our Work has the job photos.

Built for Projects That Need Heavy Equipment

Dirt work at Bankston's Builders means projects sized for heavy equipment. Excavators and dozers handle the clearing of a tract. The same machines then cut and fill the pad, shape the grade and build the road in. A ranch tract, a row of commercial lots and a data center campus all start that way.

Fort Worth sits at the center of our service area, which runs about 300 miles out. West and southwest of town the jobs get bigger: ranch clearing, long ranch roads and oilfield locations. In the Permian Basin that means caliche pad sites and lease roads for oil and gas operators. East toward Dallas the work leans commercial, with data center campuses and tenant spaces.

The building that follows the dirt stays with the same company. Concrete slabs go down on the pads we build, and retail or commercial spaces get a full tenant finish out. Select clients get a custom home from the pad up. Every project starts with a look at the job and a quote in writing.

Why Choose Bankston's Builders

Dirt Work and Construction Around Fort Worth

Heavy Equipment on Every Job

Excavators, dozers, compactors and skid steers do the work, run by crews with real expertise on each machine. The jobs are sized to match: multi-acre clearing, commercial pads, long roads and oilfield locations.

Dirt Work and the Build, One Company

The pad, the concrete and the building can all run through the same company. A custom home starts on a pad we cut and compacted. A commercial project can go from raw land to a finished tenant space.

Commercial, Oilfield, Data Center and Ranch Work

Developers, oil and gas operators, data center builders and ranch owners all bring us ground to move. Each site gets its own scope, whether that is a detention pond, a lease road or a campus pad.

How a Job With Bankston's Builders Runs

From the first call or text to the finished work, here is how it goes.

1

Call or Text

Call or text (214) 557-5106, or send the form. Tell us what the project is, where the land or the building sits and when you need it done.

2

We Look at the Job

We go over the tract or the space, the plans and the access for heavy equipment. On dirt work we also look at the ground and where the water runs.

3

The Quote in Writing

The scope and the price go in writing before any work starts. The quote spells out what gets cleared, cut, built or finished.

4

Equipment Moves In

Machines and crews come in on the set date. On a dirt job the work runs in order: clearing, the pad or the road, the trenches, then the drainage. On a build, the trades follow the schedule.

5

Finished and Ready for What Comes Next

The ground is left graded and compacted to the plan, ready for concrete, a building or a rig. On a finish out or a custom home, the work runs through to the finished space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Dirt Work, Land Clearing or Road Building?

Common questions from developers, ranchers and oil and gas operators around Fort Worth and West Texas. If yours is not here, call or text and we will answer it.

Call (214) 557-5106

What does dirt work include?
Dirt work is the heavy equipment work that turns raw land into a site ready to build. For us that means land clearing, site preparation for building pads, land grading, road building, utility trenching and site drainage. The work ends at a graded, compacted surface that is ready for concrete, a building or a road surface. Oilfield locations and data center campuses get the same work at their own scale.
How do you price dirt work?
The price comes from the ground and the volume. Acreage and brush density drive a clearing job, and the cut and fill volume drives a pad or a road. Rock near the surface, wet clay, haul distance for base or caliche and the equipment move all change the number. We look at the job and put the quote in writing, with the scope spelled out.
What areas do you serve?
Fort Worth sits at the center of our service area, which runs about 300 miles out. Southlake, Aledo, Weatherford, Granbury, Glen Rose, Stephenville, Mineral Wells and Dallas are all inside it. It reaches Midland and Odessa in the Permian Basin and Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country. See the towns we serve for the full list, or call or text (214) 557-5106.
Do I need a permit for dirt work in Fort Worth?
The City of Fort Worth requires a grading permit for land disturbance of one acre or more. A smaller tract inside a common plan of development that reaches an acre needs one too. The state's construction stormwater permit, run by TCEQ, starts at the same one-acre line. Other cities set their own rules, and the permit office in each one answers for a given tract.
Do I need to call 811 before you dig?
Texas law requires whoever digs to notify Texas 811 before machine work 16 inches or deeper. The notice goes in at least 48 hours ahead, weekends and legal holidays aside, and up to 14 days ahead. A private line that serves only the property owner sits outside that system, so the landowner points it out. Grubbing roots, cutting a pad and trenching all reach that depth, so a big dirt job starts with a ticket.
Do you work for oil and gas operators?
Yes. Pad sites and lease roads for oil and gas operators are a core part of our West Texas work. Midland, Odessa and the rest of the Permian Basin sit inside our service area. We clear the location, build the caliche pad and the lease road, and grade the drainage around it.
How does the ground around Fort Worth affect dirt work?
The city's tree guide describes much of Fort Worth as shallow clay over dense plates of limestone. Deeper clay sits to the south, and west of town the clay thins to rock. In dry weather one common North Texas clay cracks 1 to 3 inches wide and more than 20 inches deep. That clay swells wet and shrinks dry, so moisture and compaction in lifts get close attention on a pad.
Does rain hold up the schedule?
Fort Worth averages about 35 inches of rain a year, with October, May and June the wettest months. Wet clay has to dry back before it will compact to spec. Heavy dirt work can pause a few days after a hard rain, and we tell you where the schedule stands.
Do you build the building too, or only the dirt work?
Yes, the company builds too. Bankston's Builders does full commercial tenant finish outs of retail and commercial spaces. Roofing, HVAC, polished concrete floors, drywall, cabinets, doors and insulation run as one managed job. We also build custom homes for select clients, from the pad through the finished house.
